Toyota 86 / Subaru BRZ Performance Packages

We tune from full power to cruise and everywhere in between, modifying fuel, ignition, boost, VVT, throttle mapping and many other engine control parameters.

Other workshops just “Flash” your car without running it on the Dyno and hope for the best! This is a very risky option as critical engine parameters are not checked to ensure they are within safe limits. The Pulse Ecutek Custom Tune is priced at (Cost: Contact Us) for the 86/BRZ twins – irrespective of how long it takes to achieve the desired results as the car is often on the Dyno for 3-4 plus hours to get everything 110% spot on. Included in this price we can also setup the Racerom features i.e. launch control, flat foot shifting, throttle blip etc.

HARROP SUPERCHARGER UPGRADE

Thank you for your enquiry with Pulse Racing, we would be more than happy to help with getting some extra grunt from your 86! Here is some info about the Harrop supercharger kit that we can offer for your car, as well as what we include with the kit.

SUPERCHARGER UPGRADE

We can offer you a fantastic supercharger kit would use Harrop’s supercharger kit. The exact specifications of the kit depend on your power goals with the car as well as your existing supporting modifications, as the size of the pulley is the deciding factor in how much boost the supercharger generates.

The Harrop kit provides a big boost to low-end torque and response with enough top end power to see you giving even tuned STIs a hard time! The kit comes with all hoses, fittings and mounting components included, and is designed to be as subtle and stealthy as possible, as though it came from the factory like that.

Generally we would free up the most restrictive section of the exhaust at the front (front pipe & cat pipe sections), however as you already have that done you have a great starting platform to head down the forced induction route.

A little bit of boost makes the 86/BRZ come alive, and gives the little car a much needed power and torque increase. With the base supercharger kit (95m pulley) and custom ECU tune you can expect to aim for around 190+kW at the wheels safely on 98 octane fuel, which is quite a dramatic step up over the standard performance of the car.

On E85 you can expect to see about 210kW at the wheels with the base kit and the same supporting mods. Much of the extra power and torque increases over stock can be found down low and midway through the rev range, which gives the 86 an incredibly usable power band and turns it into a proper rocket of a car that will turn the factory tyres without even trying. The factory clutch is still OK at this point, however as we noted today, it is a recommended upgrade for the smaller pulley sizes as they allow the car to make significantly more power and torque.

The best bit about the Harrop kit is that it allows you to maximise the power potential whilst preserving a factory appearance and most importantly, a very high level of safety and reliability.

Included in the kit you get:

  • Eaton TVS1320 Supercharger
  • Supercharger pulley (65-95mm in size – ranging from ~7psi to ~18psi boost – we will spec to suit your individual goals)
  • Upgraded OEM-appearance inlet manifold/supercharger housing
  • Dual pass water to air intercooler setup
  • Air intake setup incl. high flow panel filter element (Uses factory airbox – however we can modify to fit your Perrin intake if you would like to keep that)
  • All high flow fittings & lines required
  • Labour to install
  • Custom Pulse Racing Ecutek Tune (Including launch control, flat foot shifting, auto-blip on downshifts – whichever options you desire – we have taken into account that you already have an Ecutek licence for the car)

Pulse Racing BRZ/GT-86 turbo kits

We have developed a turbocharger kit for the BRZ/GT86 twins that really helps bring the car to life and maximises the platform’s incredible potential.

We start with a custom modified AVO kit, which includes a carefully selected turbo, manifold and intercooler combination that provides awesome low-end torque and response with enough top end grunt to see you giving XR6 Turbos a hard time! Our kit comes with all hoses, fittings and mounting components included, and mates to a custom unequal length headers + high flow overpipe & front pipe setup. A nice bonus with the turbo kit and exhaust system is that we give the car back a nice deep WRX rumble that’s missing from factory.

A little bit of boost makes the 86/BRZ come alive, and gives the little car a much needed power and torque increase. With our turbo kit and ECU tune we have managed a safe 200kW at the wheels on 98 octane fuel, which is quite a dramatic step up over the standard performance of the car (100- 110kW on average). Much of the extra power and torque increases over stock can be found down low and midway through the rev range, which gives the BRZ/GT86 an incredibly usable power band and turns it into a proper rocket of a car that will turn the factory tyres without even trying.

We have developed this kit to maximise the power potential whilst preserving a factory appearance
and most importantly, a very high level of safety and reliability.

E85 FLEX FUEL

To achieve an even higher level of safety and power potential I would further recommend an E85 FlexFuel setup. The biggest benefit of E85 is that it has a much lower combustion temperature than 98, which allows you to run more boost and make more safe power from your engine. It’s not uncommon to see around a 10-15% gain in power when you run with E85 compared to straight 98 octane.

Further on from that, the benefits of running a FlexFuel setup are huge in that you can run an infinite ratio of either 98 or E85 in the tank. Considering the relatively limited availability of E85 in the country (Only United and Caltex stations if I’m not mistaken), this means that running on E85 is no longer a huge compromise as you can top up the tank with 98 and the tune will compensate accordingly on the fly. This makes our Flex Fuel setup perfect for the weekend track warriors. It allows you to fill up with 98 for the commute to work, and then getting the car ready for a burst on the track with some E85 at a moments notice.

To run E85 in a FlexFuel setup we will need to install and calibrate a FlexFuel kit to the car, which includes an in cabin ethanol content gauge so you can see how much ethanol you have in the fuel system at any one time. From there we tune for straight 98 octane fuel, then we drain the fuel tank and fill up with different amounts of E85, whilst tuning for various different ratios of the two fuels.

ADDITIONAL INFO

We have developed a turbocharger kit for the BRZ/GT86 twins that really helps bring the car to life and makes the most of the fantastic platform.

It wasn’t long at all before we decided that we really needed to maximise the BRZ’s chassis’ incredible potential, and so it was inevitable that the car would be taken down the forced induction route. So we sourced a turbo kit from AVO Turboworld, which uses an AVO 18/49 turbocharger mated to custom piping and a Pulse Racing spec stainless steel turbo back exhaust system that retains the twin tips at the end. A feature of our exhaust system is the unequal length headers which give the car back that trademark Subaru burble that was missing from factory.

A little bit of boost has made the BRZ come alive, and has given the little car a much needed power and torque increase. The turbo kit and Paul’s tune allowed the BRZ to put down a very healthy 220kW and 425nm at the wheels, which is quite a dramatic step up over the standard performance of the car.

Much of the extra power and torque increases over stock can be found down low and midway through the rev range, which gives the BRZ/GT86 an incredibly usable powerband and turns it into a very accessible little rocket.

We have developed this turbo kit to maximise the power potential whilst preserving a factory appearance and most importantly, a very high level of safety and reliability.

We have also developed a Flex Fuel kit for the GT86/BRZ. Included in the kit is a Zeitronix Flex Fuel sensor, high flow fuel pump and 1000cc injectors that are more than capable of satisfying the needs of the E85 system.

The flex fuel setup can handle both 98 and E85 fuel, as well as an infinite ratio of the two fuels in the one tank. This makes our Flex Fuel setup perfect for the weekend track warriors. It allows you to fill up with 98 for the commute to work, and then getting the car ready for a burst on the track with some E85 at a moments notice. Gone are the bad old days of compromising E85 setups.
